Innovation and Community - Overcoming Homelessnes in Seattle with Barb Oliver with Sound Foundations NW
A FREE NON-PROFIT EMPOWERMENT WEBCAST SERIES
Led by Jim Eskin, Fundraising Trainer/Consultant
Some of you might remember the popular 1993 movie, “Sleepless in Seattle,” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
Well, the stark reality is that too many people are sleepless in Seattle, without a roof over their heads. In fact, Seattle has the 3rd largest homeless population in the U.S., behind the much larger cities of New York and Los Angeles. In our inaugural podcast series, we are proud to salute our first Non-Profit North Star, Barb Oliver, who is making a huge difference, one home at a time.
She is one of seven Founders — and Director of Operations — of Sound Foundations NW. She has literally taken hammers, nails, wood and much else in her hands to help build more than 400 transitional tiny homes since 2018 as part of her commitment to end homelessness. More importantly, she has provided leadership to inspire and motivate thousands of men and women to join her in this noble cause to make sure that every homeless man, woman, and child in the greater Seattle area has a roof over their head and a lock on their door, all to keep them warm, safe, and dry. Listen to her uplifting story as one of many professional and volunteer non-profit leaders who improve the world.

Welcome!
Our goal is to salute the stories of Non-Profit North Stars who energize your organizations with genuine purpose and have a gift to keep your organization moving in the right and uplifting direction of its noble mission.
The focus is on unsung heroes. We cherish those who make large donations that empower philanthropy to thrive, but in this instance, we are looking for your suggestions on those who make a difference in their communities more by their service, commitment and leadership to the rich missions in the non-profit sector that touch, improve and save more lives.
Please provide the information requested below and we will follow up with your nominees and make appropriate selections. A priority is to highlight truly a diverse cross-section of men and women who fuel the aspirations and achievements of non-profits from different sectors and all different parts of the country. Nominees may be professional staff, board members, volunteers, donors or others who propel the mission of the non-profit forward by their inspiring examples.
We will be announcing selections and sharing podcast interviews through our monthly e-newsletter and other Constant Contact communications, plus social media.
